Welcome to Southern Derbyshire Clinical Commissioning Group
Welcome to the Southern Derbyshire CCG website. This site is primarily aimed at practices and CCG staff, although we hope to make the site more public facing as the CCG develops. If you have any comments, please contact dita.bukovacova@southernderbyshireccg.nhs.uk.
GPs in Southern Derbyshire have been working together to build the strong foundations required to take on new commissioning responsibilities as part of NHS reforms. This has been endorsed in achieving ‘pathfinder’ status by the Department of Health.
Our vision is to continuously improve the health and wellbeing of the people of Southern Derbyshire, using all resources as fairly as possible. We will do this by:
- providing local clinical leadership to the NHS, and working with everybody who can contribute to our aims
- being open and accountable to our patients and communities, ensuring they are at the heart of everything we do
- understanding our population and addressing inequalities so that services are in place to meet needs
- planning services that best meet those needs now and in the future
- aiming to secure the best quality, best value health and social care services we can afford
- using our resources fairly and effectively.
The Clinical Commissioning Group brings together the combined expertise of 58 local GP practices, acting on behalf of over 500,000 patients covering Southern Derbyshire.
The CCG will serve a large and complex population with both urban and rural geography/ demographics, containing a wide spectrum of social deprivation and health needs.
The group recognised the importance of developing arrangements which reflect patient flows to enable effective commissioning, whilst ensuring full engagement of all member practices. This is demonstrated by the structures that have been established to support the work of the CCG, through the four Locality groups - Derby Commissioning Network (DCN) and Derby Advanced Commissioning (DAC) in Derby City; Amber Valley and South Dales (AVSD), and South Derbyshire (SD).
As the Southern Derbyshire group continue to develop they will be testing the new commissioning arrangements to ensure they are working well before the formal arrangements come into place by April 2013, and will be shadowing the Derbyshire Cluster throughout 2011/12.
