Derby Commissioning Network Locality (DCN) is made up of 12 Practices covering a population of approximately 145,000.
DCN has a Board that meets monthly. Each practice has at least one GP representative and a practice manager representative who attends this meeting. They also have 2 Lay Representatives on the Board. The Locality holds regular GP education events and patient engagement events.
The purpose of the DCN Board is to work collaboratively with all organisations to ensure the success of GP Commissioning for patients and GP practice members of DCN. The Board acts as the link between member practices and the Governing Body and its sub-committees.
DCN has wide demographic covering areas of high deprivation, with many newly arriving populations to predominantly white middle-class living in affluent areas. Each demographic brings its own issues.
Based on the results of the GP questionnaire, the results of the engagement event with patients and voluntary sector organisations; the DCN Locality Priorities for 2014/2015 will be:
- Patient Education
- Commissioning of Community MSK, Gynaecology & ENT services
- Links with Mental Health (MH) & Crisis Team
- Closer working with Health Visitors & District Nurses
- GP education
