Southern Derbyshire CCG Best Place to Work in NHS

NHS Southern Derbyshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has been named among the best places to work in the NHS.

The CCG was one of only 15 CCGs in the country to be chosen by NHS Employers and Health Service Journal (HSJ). There are over 200 CCGs in England.

NHS Southern Derbyshire CCG was selected as a top place to work because two-thirds of staff report good communication between senior managers and staff. More than half of staff had equality and diversity training in the year to the last NHS staff survey.

Andy Layzell, Chief Officer of NHS Southern Derbyshire CCG, said:

“We are delighted to have been chosen as one of the best places to work for in the NHS. We have developed a positive and compassionate culture where each member of staff is aware of the role that they have to play and the difference that they can make for patients.

“New and innovative ways have been developed to inform, engage and consult our staff on a regular and consistent basis.”

HSJ’s Best Places to Work is an annual celebration of the UK’s elite public sector healthcare employers. These organisations have proven that they know what it takes to create environments where people love to come to work.

Each year, all healthcare organisations are required to conduct an employee engagement and satisfaction survey. This is compiled into reports that are also made public by the NHS and the Picker Institute at

Best Companies Group was able to use this information to analyse the organisations, determine who was in the top 100, and to create benchmark reports used by HSJ.
