Fancy a free fun day out with your friends or family? Want to find out more about health services in Derby while you’re at it?

Then look no further as NHS Southern Derbyshire Clinical Commissioning Group is running a stall at The Big 1 event at Chaddesden Park, Derby, this Sunday (7 June) to help people ‘Choose Well’ when using NHS services to get the right care, in the right place, at the right time.

Services offered by Derby Urgent Care Centre (DUCC), formerly known as Derby Walk-In Centre, will be highlighted on the day.

The DUCC was renamed and launched new and improved services in April this year. Health professionals there can treat sprains, strains, minor burns or scalds, minor head and eye injuries, infections, and they also offer a support and advice hub.

NHS Southern Derbyshire Clinical Commissioning Group commissions OneMedicalGroup to run the DUCC.

Catherine Bainbridge, senior commissioning manager for NHS Southern Derbyshire Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “We’re keen to let patients know where they can get the care they need.

“The DUCC was renamed and launched new and improved services in April so this is a fun way to get a serious message across to one of our target audiences – parents of our younger patients – that they can quickly access the health services they want.”

At the stall people will be able to hook a duck, try a smoothie-making bike and pick up information about the DUCC’s services, location and opening times.

The Big 1 is open from 11am to 6pm and includes:

  • ·stalls
  • ·fun fair
  • ·inflatables
  • ·dance area
  • ·wrestling area
  • ·a dog show.

The same fun activities and events will be available at a stall promoting the DUCC on Saturday 13June at the Derbyshire Ey Up Mi Duck Race at Cathedral Green, Derby, between 11am and 3pm.

The annual race, hosted by Sight Support Derbyshire, will include a duck sponsored by NHS Southern Derbyshire Clinical Commissioning Group.

Catherine added: “We’re happy to support this worthy cause while reminding people what services are available to them.”

Rachel Beverley-Stevenson, Chief Executive of OneMedicalGroup, said: “We’re pleased to be involved in these events to help people find out more about our work and services.

“We’re passionate about working with the local community and empowering patients to take control of their own healthcare, starting with educating them about what services are available to them and how they can use them to their advantage.”

The DUCC is open 8am to 8pm every day and can be contacted on 01332 224700.
